San Carlos Democrats

Welcome!

The primary mission of this group at this time is voter registration. Voter registration tends to help Democrats more than it does Republicans since most unregistered people are young, or are members of a Democratically-leaning minority group, so let's get out the vote!

What this Means

To register voters, we set up a table at a popular venue around town, typically either an event (such as the Farmer's Market) or a popular store (such as Lucky). Two or three volunteers staff the table and help people with the registration paperwork. We also sell Obama swag at the table (T-shirts, pins, bumper stickers, and the like) and take donations to help support to San Mateo Country Democratic Headquarters. It's typically quite relaxed and enjoyable.

For those who haven't done it before, we will hold occasional training sessions at the headquarters, but it's honestly quite simple. Everything you need is pre-packaged into a big plastic bin that you simply take with you to the venue.

How You Can Help

If you can afford a couple hours here or there to help out, please consider signing up for one of the time slots on the schedule linked below. The first tab of the schedule shows an overview calendar with all the upcoming events. Each of these will link you to a detailed schedule on the second tab. Generally, any item shown in red has slots for at least two more volunteers; those in yellow have room for at least one more volunteer; and those in green are fully staffed.

The schedule will hopefully be self-serve in the future (anyone really good with CGI scripting and visual basic and have a little free time? ), but for now, signup is by way of email to me, Craig Duttweiler; if there's a slot you can staff, please send me an email at the address linked below. I will process the signup requests in the order in which I receive them, so the slot you request may be taken by an earlier responder. I'll try to minimize this by processing requests frequently, but please consider listing a few alternative slots that would also be OK. And of course you're more than welcome to sign up for multiple slots!
